Colby & I are anxiously awaiting the arrival of our second child, a little girl, who will be named Ellie Skye. I’m currently on maternity leave. While I try to continue to respond to emails within a timely manner, please be patient if it takes longer than 2 business days to respond. I will return from maternity leave on Monday, September 8th. During this time, I will not be able to respond to voicemails. Feel free to email me at jen@jenshannon.com.

Thank you to Alison Neumark of Life and Love Studio for the photo!

Maternity Leave 800px

Last week, my good friends, Alison and Jay of Life and Love Studio, welcomed their second baby, but first son, Hudson Reid into the world. I was incredibly happy and honored to be able to photograph such a beautiful event in their lives. As photographers, we love what we do because we know that every time a client sees their photos, the photos will bring back their emotions, thoughts, and feelings that they were experiencing during such a special time, but for dear friends, it’s such a huge honor. Here are a couple of my favorite sneak peeks. The second photo is SOOO sweet. Their oldest baby, Ella, will be 3 next month and is Carly’s best friend. It’s so precious to see her meeting her baby brother for the first time. Happy Monday!

For Carly’s birthday, my whole family chipped in to buy her a beautiful easel set with paints, markers, and chalk. It’s been so special to her. She loves it! Here are some pictures of her drawing on the paper with colored pencils. They’re less messy at her age! haha! Happy Friday.

jacksonville newborn photographer, jacksonville newborn photography, jacksonville newborn photographers, baby photography, jen shannon, jen shannon photography, baby photosAbout a week ago, I had the great pleasure of photographing my great friend, Lenna’s, newborn baby boy with husband Kenyon. This is their 3rd baby boy! It always brings me joy to create such special memories for my friends during their precious moments in life. Lenna and Kenyon have 2-year-old twin boys who are incredibly happy to have a little brother.

The timing didn’t work out quite right to get him photographed in the first week because he decided to make his debut the day I left for Denver and when I got back, they were sick, so he’s actually 2 weeks here, but nonetheless, he’s fresh out of the oven!

He’s as precious as ever. For a few of the pictures, we used a hand made quilt and lion. The quilt was made by Johari Creations. I don’t remember the name for the lion, but they are handmade by women in Africa. Here’s a blurb from Johari Creations about what they do.

Johari Creations is a marketplace for handcrafted products made by artisans in developing countries around the world. We seek to come alongside our artisan partners with sustainable incomes, holistic development and shared work and responsibility. We believe amazing beauty can come from poverty and while the artisans handcraft stunning products, it is the artisans themselves we celebrate as “johari” – the Swahili word for jewel.

Feel free to head over to Johari Creations to support this wonderful mission to support women in poverty with amazing talent. With that said, here are my favorites.

jen shannon photography, reflection photo, reflections, reflection, water reflection in photography, riley, carly,

Today would have been Riley’s 7th birthday. I miss him terribly, HOWEVER I choose to celebrate his life today. I truly believe God’s hand was in that situation. Riley never warmed up to Carly and I feared that he might hurt her one day. It was strange that he never took to her because he loved kids. He was the biggest, sweetest Bear. As much as I miss him, I am so happy to have had the joy of being his dog mom for 6 years. He brought me so much joy, comforted me with big Bear hugs, kept me warm in the cold, and made me laugh countless times. I miss him, but I love Carly more. I’m thankful for God’s protection of her. Today, I reflect on the wonderful things Riley’s life has brought me. I’m so blessed.
