I don’t typically offer boudoir sessions. I guess you could say I’m just not into the whole “get in touch with your inner playmate” thing. I’m sure women find it fun and liberating but it’s just not my style. I prefer fine art and fashion. When Paulina of Makeup by Paulina Perez contacted me about doing her boudoir, I knew it was a great match. With our sense of fashion and Vogue inspiration, we did a beautiful boudoir for her husband, Skip, that was tasteful, classy, and centered around the idea of fashion/fine art. Here’s a sneak peek. Of course, makeup and hair by Makeup by Paulina Perez. Thanks to Nicole Wiley under Makeup by Paulina Perez for doing Paulina’s beautiful hair!

I know, I know. I’ve been really terrible at keeping up with my blog. Hopefully, by now, you’ve had a chance to like my facebook page so you can at least keep up with my more recent adventures that I haven’t really had a chance to blog about recently. This past spring has been rather slow with weddings but boy, my fall is busy like crazy. What’s even crazier is just how fast I’m booking for 2014. I usually get most of my bookings towards the end of the year for the following year but apparently 2014 brides are really on top of their photographer planning game! I’m so excited to be working with some really amazing people next year and I’m really looking forward to the busy fall time!

In the mean time, I’ve been a terrible blogger, but an excellent housewife, seamstress, mama, chef, etc. The list goes on. My husband, Colby, and I just celebrated our 7 year wedding anniversary. Normally I have something amazing to write that touches his heart but this year, I was too busy actually planning his gift to write a sweet blog post. I’ll write more on his adventure soon, but part of our celebration took us to the Blue Ridge mountains. It was definitely not long enough but amazing to be out in the middle of nowhere for some quiet time. More on that soon too. For now, I leave you with two amazingly beautiful pictures from our time there. You could see every star in the sky at night. This panoramic was taken from the view of our master suite in the cabin. Happy Monday.

Last weekend, Colby and I got to have sometime away to reconnect before the busyness of the wedding season starts. I’m SOOOO excited to be shooting my first wedding of the year this Friday with a gorgeous bride named Kay. Congratulations on your upcoming wedding Jared and Kay!! I’m excited to be a part of it!

I decided to finally get a couple of rolls of film I had shot last December in Colorado developed. I’ve done a lot with film in the past but it was always for school. Those of you Columbia College Chicago students know exactly what I’m talking about. I had lost touch with film because it felt so demanding, probably because of school, but my great friend Monica got me back into it while she was here for a visit a couple of months ago. It’ll take me awhile to finish scanning, but I thought I’d leave you with a couple of snowy pictures from Colorado.

Happy Monday!

Happy Friday everyone! Well, I’ve added yet another addition to my fine art collection. I really need to update my store to my shopping cart but where does the time go? How do moms with multiple kids do it? Can I please have myself cloned so I could get everything done? No? Come on! Anyway, I’ll leave you for the weekend with this photo. I hope you enjoy it! Happy Labor Day! We have Colby’s family in town for the weekend, but I’ll be shooting with the lovely Jenn Hopkins and meeting with a potential client, then I’m off! Have a great weekend!

Colby,

I’d love to write you so much about this past year… Well, I did, but in a private letter. Because my letter is so long and I can’t wait to give it to you, I’ll keep it short and sweet on my blog. I’m so blessed to be your wife. This last year, we’ve gone through more that what most couples can handle. I’m not even talking about being pregnant and having a baby/becoming new parents. I’m talking about everything in between. I’ve had to lean on you so much. I’m lucky that I not only have you to lean on, but that you can bear the weight of the things I’ve had to lean on you for. I recently second shot a wedding and the minister said something during the service that really stood out to me. Marriage isn’t always 50/50 (or 100/100 to some people). Sometimes it’s 70/30, 90/10, or even 100/0. This past year, most of it has probably been 90/10 with some periods of 100/0; you being the 90 and me being the 10. We’ve become very resilient and navigated a lot, even in just a year (and I’m not just talking about Carly) but you’ve been there the whole time to lift me up and carry me through it all. I hope I can make it up to you someday… Well… I know I will because someday, you’ll be in the 90/10 or the 100/0 and I’ll have to be the 90 or 100 while you’re the 10 or the 0. That’s just how life goes. I love you so much and I’m glad to be spending my life with you. So, as is customary on our anniversary, we will enjoy delicious strawberries! Only this time, we’ll have Carly with us and we will be at my parent’s pool. Kind of like these strawberries… haha! I love you. Happy anniversary.
