I have to say, these last ten weeks have been really amazing. I can’t believe I’m finally a mom. It seems like just yesterday that I was saying I never wanted kids and then a few years ago, all of that changed. Three years later, I’m holding the sweetest, most beautiful baby in my arms and I couldn’t be happier.
I’ve done a lot while I’ve been on maternity leave. Even though I’ve technically been on leave, I’ve still be working pretty much daily. The only thing I didn’t do while I was on leave was do any professional shooting, but I still responded to emails, booked weddings, returned phone calls and began working on some of my 2012 changes. As you can see, my website is redesigned back to my previous logo (long story) and a lot of changes are taking place. I have a big blog article to come later (after I receive everything and take pictures) but I’ve been busy designing and ordering my product packaging and a welcome packet for new clients.
Before I go off on a huge rant about how excited I am for all of the wonderful things to come, I just wanted to focus this blog article about my maternity leave. It’s been such a blessing to take this time to focus on adjusting to our new little family. Carly is such a dream. She is such an easy going baby and still sleeps a lot. She’s come alive with personality already. I really can’t get over how cute she is. I know all mothers say their kids are cute, but really, Carly is incredibly cute! After all, she got Colby’s nose and his nose is super cute! haha! We’ve definitely had our ups and downs and our patience has been tested quite a bit, but we’re surrounded with amazing family and friends that have helped us out so much. I want to give a special shout out to Corrie who has almost become Carly’s unofficial nanny. She’s been so amazing with coming over, almost daily, during the week to watch Carly for a few hours while I plug away at getting work done. It’s been such a blessing and I am so grateful to her.
Of course, being a photographer, I have already taken thousands of pictures of Carly. I put together a compilation of my favorites below. I’ve sort of tried to not cover my website and blog in photos of her because really this blog isn’t about her, it’s about my work, but so much of my business reflects who I am and what is going on in my life that I wanted to make sure I shared it with you. Don’t worry. I’ll only post photos of her every now and then! I really missed blogging so much and I’m happy to be back and at ’em. My wedding season starts with second shooting this Saturday and it’s pretty much non stop through June and then picks back up in August. It’s good to be back and I hope you’re as excited for 2012 as I am!
