In continuing with my “Getting Married in St. Augustine Series,” this week, we take a look at Government House. It’s a small but beautiful and very rustic venue located in the heart of St. Augustine. I had the privilege of shooting some getting ready pictures as well as a ceremony there, however this location would be great for cocktail hours, smaller receptions, etc.
This two story, rustic beauty sits right on King Street, which is super close to St. George Street and other venues such as Casa Monica, the White Room, etc. The inside is gorgeous, but the courtyard really completes it with beautiful lights and rustic wood doors.
I photographed a beautiful wedding for James and Kim, who live in Chicago but were getting married down here in St. Augustine. They were both just so happy to be marrying each other and starting the rest of their beautiful lives together. Being as thought it was a destination wedding, they had quite a few people who came in to celebrate. They had used some of their own decorative touches to make the space their own.
Kim was able to have her and her bridesmaids getting ready right there at the Government House. They had a gorgeous suite that everyone got to use to get ready. James got ready elsewhere but showed up with his groomsmen for pictures before their wedding ceremony.
James and Kim decided to do a first look right there in the courtyard. We decided to do the first look right in front of the beautiful oak tree towards the back of the courtyard.
Then it was time for the ceremony. The guys came out of the side of the building into the courtyard while the bridesmaids lined up outside the gate to walk down the aisle. Kim chose to walk herself down the aisle. She was beautifully radiant!
I hope you’ve enjoyed this article about the beautiful Government House. If you’re interested in getting married or hosting any part of your wedding day here, be sure to contact them for more information.
