One of my dear friends, Laurie, who I met several years ago when she contacted me to photograph her wedding, started an online boutique called Zoey’s Collections. I had the opportunity to do an updated photo shoot using some of the items from her collection. We have several ongoing projects so you’ll be seeing more of Laurie and Zoey’s Collections in the coming months! Here are some of my favorites from her session! Also, be sure to check out her VERY affordable, online boutque by clicking here!
Last fall, I had the wonderful pleasure of photographing Kate and Marshall’s wedding at St. Mark’s Episcopal and reception at Timuquana Country Club. They had both gone away to college, she at an all girls college, but had moved back to Jacksonville a couple of months before their wedding. Their wedding was beautiful, full of love, and surrounded by family and friends. Enjoy!
I’m catching up on work from last year and have so much to post to catch up on. Rob and Katie are getting married in May this year and theirs will be one of my last. It’s kind of bittersweet. I like that I’m moving into portraiture and combining all sorts of girly things into a topic that’s very problematic for many women, but I’m really going to miss working with sweet couples and watching them start the beginning of the rest of their lives together. Rob and Katie are no exception. Rob and Katie were guests at Ali and Marielle’s wedding that I shot in October 2013 and when asked who they should hire to be their photographer, Marielle sent them my info and the rest is history.
We met in Riverside for their session and it was such a beautiful day. The airshow was happening in the distance but we got to see the Blue Angels fly briefly. The chemistry between these two was too cute on so many levels. You can tell they’re totally comfortable just being “them” with each other. That’s the kind of person you spend the rest of your life with… because when life gets messy, you know you can be yourself.
Here are some of my favs from their session. Enjoy!
I’ll just go ahead and admit it now. I am not super woman. I can’t keep up. Maybe if I had some level of predictability to my day, things would be different, but with a baby and a toddler, the only thing I can predict is that Murphy will always show up… in the form of a giant poop diaper right when we’re walking out the door, a pair of shoes put on the wrong feet, a meltdown because a sticker didn’t make it into the van and we HAVE to have THAT sticker. Isn’t that kind of the beauty of the wonderment of childhood though? The unpredictability? It’s amazing what we lose as adults that children bring back, even if only for a brief time.
Anyway, things have gotten really difficult to keep up with and when I do try to keep up, I find myself doing things half way, which isn’t who I am. To take a load off and make sure that I stop slipping through the cracks, I’ve made the leap into being an employer and I’ve hired someone awesome! I want you all to meet Kristen Tillman. She’s the Director of Marketing and Sales. Kristen and I go way back to middle school. I was the trouble child. She was the angel. Somehow that changed in high school and I became the angel and Kristen was always “grounded.” Lol! Anyway, Kristen will be working remotely from Savannah, GA and bringing some southern charm (which we all know… I can’t pull that off) to JSP. She lives there with her husband, Jon, and her daughter, Ellie. Kristen is currently going through training and I’m so excited to have her on board and taking over some areas for me. Soon, I hope to bring her in for a session and get some beautiful head shots of her.
I can’t believe it has been two months since my last blog post. Where has the time gone? I feel like time is a thief. I blinked and before I knew it, 2014 was over. This year was full of amazing things; most notably, the birth of our second child, Ellie Skye. I also have used this year to transition my business away from weddings and into modern women’s portraiture. My brother got married in NY and I was honored to photograph that as well as welcome another sister into our family (I’m the only girl of 3 boys so even if they aren’t blood sisters, I’ll take it!) I also got to photograph my first “out of the country” destination wedding in the Bahamas, which was INCREDIBLE.
I wish I had all of the time in the world to blog and share everything but life has just gotten too crazy to keep up with my blog. I’m certainly not quitting my blog, but realistically, I haven’t had the time to blog so it’s hard to commit to showing everything anymore. So, to close out 2014, here are a few of my favorite images from recent shoots that I haven’t yet blogged. Here’s to 2015!
